Mothes Shield: An epic battle between Petone and Wellington Rowing Club's!
After making the trip up to Levin for the Mothes Shield on Saturday 16th September, only to be greeted by white caps and rugged conditions, the regatta was shifted back to Korokoro where it was raced over 2km. The late start meant not all races were completed, which turned out to be bad news for Wellington, with the club finishing the regatta 2nd to Petone by only 6 points.

Despite the overall result, there were some great individual results. Highlights were the open men's squad cleaning up in the open events, with 1st in the quad and eight; 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the pair; 1st and 3rd in the double; 1st and 2nd in the coxless four; and 2nd and 3rd in the single. Other great results were 1st placings in the womens club and open eights, and 1st in the mens club eight.

The open men have been in full preparation for the Inter-Provincials regatta to be held on Lake Hood in October. The men collected a total of 36 points at the regatta, unfortunately not enough to help the club hold the Shield for consequative seasons.
